SBES EMS Training Center - EMT Apprenticeship Academy
South Branch Emergency Services is proud to announce the continuance of our exciting, and dynamic program, the EMT Apprenticeship program. Successful candidates will enter a specialized EMT Academy made up of temporary Per-Diem employees that attend classroom training, complete ambulance ride-along hours, and home study each week for approximately 18 weeks.
The program is open to anyone looking to pursue a new career or is just starting out. No experience is necessary.
EMT Apprentices will receive an hourly rate of $18.23/hour paid bi-weekly via direct deposit.
The EMT ACADEMY will be open to a limited number of EMT Apprenticeships per semester, based on available employment positions.

Class Schedule Wednesday & Thursday 8:30am - 4:30pm with a 1-hour lunch
Minimum Requirements
18 Years of Age
High School diploma or graduation equivalent
Valid driver's license with driving record acceptable to South Branch Emergency Services
Legally eligible to work in the USA/NJ
Proof of Inoculations:
COVID-19
HEP-B
Current Year Flu
Others as may be required by your department or Internship Medical Center
Salary
EMT Apprentices that are accepted into the EMT Academy that includes:
Classroom instruction: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Wednesdays, and Thursdays with a 1 hour lunch break each day. Except Thanksgiving week is Tuesday and Wednesday.
A 12-hour Ambulance Shift is to be scheduled each week
There will be a couple of additional class times TBD
Total of 26 compensated work hours per week
Accepted EMT Apprentices will be paid at a rate of $18.23/hour while in class or on apprenticeship shifts on the BLS Ambulance, paid bi-weekly via direct deposit.
No benefits provided to the EMT Internship employee
In addition to classroom and apprenticeship time, the EMT Academy has significant independent study homework and quizzes. Upon successful completion of the EMT Academy which includes sitting for their National Registry EMT test within 2 weeks of class completion.
Apprenticeship Candidates must be:
eligible to legally work in the United States of America and the State of New Jersey
18 years of age or older
cleared through a background check, and medical clearance, and complete a lift test
Candidates accepted into the EMT Apprenticeship Academy are pledging 2 years of service to South Branch Emergency Services upon successful certification of a NREMT. Candidates who do not complete the program successfully, will be billed for the training program cost of $2,000.00 EMT Trainee - After Successful Completion of the EMT Academy
EMT Apprentices successfully completing the Academy fully will be offered an EMT Trainee position on a per-deim, part-time or full-time basis, based on available openings.
$19.23/hour paid bi-weekly via direct deposit, for a training period of up to 6 to 12 months
Benefits provided to EMT Trainee based on position offered, per current SBES Employment policy
This is a two-year commitment, with the first approximately 4 months in the classroom and apprenticeship, followed by a training period. Candidates leaving the EMT Apprenticeship program prior to 24 months will be billed for the cost of their training.
When the Training Center cancels a course, 100% less book fees will be made
When a student wishes to withdraw from a course, a refund must be requested in writing. It must be received by the Training Center within 2 weeks after the start of the class. No refunds will be given to students who have attended 1 or more class sessions.
Failure to attend class does not constitute an official withdrawal. To receive a refund, the student must send a written request in accordance with above.
Textbooks
Some courses, including the EMT program, require a textbook and/or online access codes. The cost of these items, known as a "book fee", is the responsibility of the student and is NOT included in the tuition. All text books are Non-Refundable once distributed, all sales are final.

General Terms and Conditions:
All courses may be subject to minimum course students. Should a course be cancelled, student will be given as much advanced notice as possible.
Any student enrolling and not attending a course will be charged the full, non-discounted course fee, for no-shows. Except for Initial EMT Course, cancellations will be accepted up to 72 hours prior. Fees for text books and pre-study materials will not be refunded once sent to students.
All students attending SBESTC Courses agree that they have received permission of their department/company prior to enrollment, are covered by workmans compensation insurance through their department/company, and agree to allow their likeness used in any print or electronic media by SBESTC and SBES.
